The Department of Chemistry, established in 1998, has consistently expanded its academic offerings to provide a well-rounded education in the chemical sciences. In 2024-25, the department introduced a B.Sc. Honours program in Organic Chemistry, allowing for an intake of 40 students, alongside the existing B.Sc. Chemistry program, which was launched in 2023-24 and has an intake capacity of 60 students. These additions broaden the department's undergraduate options, meeting the demands of students interested in both general and specialized areas of chemistry. In addition to the core Chemistry programs, the department offers B.Sc. courses in various interdisciplinary streams, including M.C. Cs (Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science) and MPC (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) in both English and Telugu mediums, along with BZC (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry). The B.Voc program in Pharmaceutical Chemistry, sanctioned in 2020-21, is designed to equip students with industry-relevant skills for the pharmaceutical sector. At the postgraduate level, the department introduced an M.Sc. program in Organic Chemistry in 2003, with an intake of 30 students, emphasizing advanced studies and research in organic chemistry. With four sanctioned faculty positions, the department is well-staffed to support its growing programs, providing students with a strong foundation in chemistry and diverse career opportunities in academia and industry.
